Bella Coola - For adults and youth with addiction issues contact the Alcohol & Drug Program with the Bella Coola Community Support Society, phone (250) 799-5523. Judith is available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday while Allison is available Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

For adults with mental health or concurrent mental health/addiction issues contact Bella Coola Mental Health Services located out of the Bella Coola General Hospital located at 1025 Elcho Street, phone (250) 799-5311. Please ask for Carole Clark. Carol can also refer individuals with addiction or mental health issues to a visiting psychiatrist who comes in four times a year. There is also videoconferencing time with the same psychiatrist and 3 different psychologists every week. Hours are flexible but are generally 8:30 to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday (open noon hour).

North Vancouver Outpatient Alcohol & Drug Services

For adults and youth with addiction issues contact West Coast Alternatives Society (aka Alternatives Society) located at 117-3721 Delbrook Avenue, phone (604) 984-0255. Besides the counselling component, Alternatives also has a youth and adult art therapy program. For children impacted by addiction issues Alternatives has the Kids First Program which is based on play therapy. Alternatives also has some mutual support groups. Hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 PM but clients can have later appointments.

For adults and youth with addiction issues there is a day program at Stepping Stones located at West Community Health Centre, 2nd Floor - 990 22nd Street in West Vancouver, phone (604) 904-6180 (switchboard) or (604) 904-6182 (for the Intake Social Worker). Stepping Stones has the North Shore Adult and Seniors Addiction Day Program which is The Stepping Stones program which is 8-weeks in duration, 3-4 hours per day, Monday to Friday. This program is designed for adults and seniors who are in early recovery or aiming for abstinence. Serves the North Shore and Coast Garibaldi but will occassionally take clients from other communities. Office hours are 8:30 to 5 pm Monday to Friday.

North Vancouver Concurrent Mental Health/Addiction Services

Adults
For adults with addiction or concurrent mental health/addiction issues contact North Shore Assessment & Treatment Services located at 500-145 West 17th Street, phone (604) 904-3577. North Shore Assessment & Treatment Services is a division of VCHA. Individuals must be stabilized (not in psychosis), otherwise should see Community Psychiatric Services (see below). North Shore Assessment & Treatment has a full team of mental health professionals. 

For adults who are actively psychotic or have concurrent mental health/addiction issues contact VCHA Community Psychiatric Services located at 1350 Saint Andrews Avenue, phone (604) 983-6020. Office hours are 8:30 to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

For adults with mental health issues only contact the North and West Vancouver branches of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) which offers brief counseling services (up to four sessions, one hour maximum, $10 per session) in collaboration with BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. This service is limited to North Shore residents.

Youth
For youth with concurrent mental health/addiction issues contact the North Shore Child and Youth Mental Health and Addiction Network (NETWORK), phone (604) 984-3770. NETWORK is comprised of a coordinated continuum of services and is funded by the MCFD and VCHA.  Services include MCFD's Child and Youth Mental Health program (CYMH), the Child and Adolescent program, Youth Concurrent Disorders program, Child and Youth Addiction Day Program and the Child and Youth Mental Health Hospital Liaision program.

For youth with mental health or concurrent mental health/addiction issues there is North Shore CYMH which offers 4 programs, 2 of which have an addiction component:

(1) Jump Start is an substance abuse day program for youth ages 13 to 24. North Shore kids who have been kicked out of school for substance abuse are recommended to enrol in Jump Start. This program is also Also facilitates parent support groups, family counselling, and referrals to other programs. Jump Start is located at 148 East 15th Street, North Vancouver, phone (604) 984-3770.
(2) Youth Concurrent Disorders Program is for youth with co-existing addiction and mental illness
(3) Therapeutic Day Program is for students who are struggling with regular schooling. It is not addiction or mental health therapy-focused per se but rather focused on school curriculum.
(4) Child and Adolescent Program is for kids who have a mental illness. Individual and group counselling services are provided.

North Vancouver Addiction Prevention Programs

The North Shore Crystal Meth Task Force educates retailers on ingredients in the manufacture of crystal meth and raises awareness among youth and families about the dangers of crystal meth.  For more information call (604) 988-7225.

Sea-to-Sky has a master's level addiction therapist that works with youth. Sea to Sky Community Services also offers a school-based addiction prevention program for schools in Pemberton.

RICHMOND - GOVERNMENT OR CONTRACTED AGENCIES

Richmond Outpatient Alcohol & Drug Services

For adults with addiction issues contact Richmond Transitions located at Suite 600 - 8100 Granville Ave. in Richmond, phone (604) 244-5486. Monday, Thursday, and Friday between 9 am and 5 pm and Tuesday and Wednesdays 9 am to 8 pm. Reception is closed for lunch 12 noon to 1 pm Monday to Friday. Self-referral is acceptable but clients must reside in Richmond or have a Richmond-based doctor. For seniors with addiction issues Richmond Addiction Services has an outreach service (see below for contact information).

For adults admitted to the hospital and struggling with addiction or concurrent mental health and addiction contact the Drug and Alcohol Resource Team (DART) located at the Richmond Hospital, 7000 Westminster Highway, phone (604) 244-5396. Hours are 8:30 to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday (closed noon hour). Once a client is admitted to the hospital, he/she may self-refer or have a family member refer.

For adults with gambling issues there is a problem gambling counsellor located at Richmond Addiction Services, phone (604) 270-9220 (see address in next paragraph).
