Most of the funding for addiction treatment services in Ontario comes from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Ontario’s addiction treatment services also receive some funds from the federal government, other provincial ministries, the United Way and private sector funders. The majority of funding for addiction services is administered by the Ontario Substance Abuse Bureau and is responsible for managing and coordinating the province’s addiction treatment system.
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) acts as the provincial resource for the addiction treatment system in Ontario. CAMH is the largest mental health and addiction organization in Canada. CAMH has central facilities located in Toronto and 26 community locations throughout the province. Services provided by CAMH include:
